county fairThe goal of this web site’s Temporary Food Facility Training is to assist the Community Event Organizers and food vendors in handling food safely at community events in Yolo County.

There are an increasing number of community events at which food is served in Yolo County. Due to the nature of food service to a large number of people in an temporary setting at Community Events, proper food handling practices are needed to reduce the potential for foodborne illness. Once you have completed this training you will know what is required to set up a food booth at a community event and serve food safely.

Certification is valid for:

  1. Temporary Food Facility Operators.
  2. Community Event Organizers.

This training will help you:

1. Serve safe food; not only at the event, but also at home and minimize the possibility of a foodborne illness.

Foods can be naturally contaminated with bacteria and viruses called pathogens. If the foods are mishandled, they can cause very serious health consequences for all, especially infants, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems. For these reasons it is important for all food handlers to be careful when preparing and serving food.

2. Set up and operate temporary food facilities in compliance with State law.

Once you become familiar with the requirements in State law, you can work with the County Environmental Health Division to obtain a health permit to operate a booth at a community event and serve safe food.
